About Ashley, Licensed Professional Therapist (LPC)

I’m Ashley, a bookworm and adventurer who believes in eating ice cream for breakfast and in an honest, interactive, approach to therapy.

I promise, it’s not like what you see on tv. I don’t sit there with a notebook, taking notes and nodding absentmindedly. (Though I do use a clipboard sometimes if we’re doing EMDR).

I show up in session just like I do in “real life”, which means there will be swearing, there will be a lot of facial expressions and because I like to explain things with metaphors, there will probably some references to books and tv shows.

I’m a real person, and I want you to feel like a real person too. You can be yourself without judgment which means nothing is “not okay” to talk about. I’m not afraid to talk about things like money, sex, your ex or your in-laws as many times as we need to.

I’m an Anxiety Therapist and a Therapist for People-Pleasers in Denver

…and I truly believe you can have a fulfilling life without sacrificing yourself, your career or your relationships.

You can learn to say no without feeling guilty, manage stress, decrease anxiety and feel comfortable in your own body.

You can break patterns of burnout, people-pleasing and perfectionism, and develop skills you’ll use long after you leave therapy.

I know it’s possible because I’ve been where you are, and I know how to help.

  • I use a few different clinical modalities and tools to best support my clients, including but not limited to: CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Narrative Therapy, EMDR and and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I tailor treatment to each client’s needs and preferences, pulling tools from methods listed above as appropriate.

I like to explain things with metaphors and will often recommend books, podcasts or articles to clients who are interested. Full disclosure: I’ve also been known to reference tv shows like Modern Family and Friends in session because they’re funny, relatable and sometimes great examples of what not to do.

  • I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Counseling in 2012 and have been in the field full-time ever since. I’ve work in outpatient clinics, inpatient hospitals, emergency rooms, residential treatment centers, outpatient clinics and private practice. I am always continuing to develop and expand my clinical skills and training, which you can read more about on the Certifications tab.

At this point I’ve seen almost everything and am rarely surprised by anything, but I’ve learned my passion is working with adult people-pleasers , perfectionists and high-achievers wanting to find relief and balance in their life, learning how to set boundaries , and overcome burnout.

I work best with clients who are motivated, committed to coming to therapy consistently, and who are ready to invest in themselves.
